Lieutenant Colonel Michael Mollohan, USMC

Lieutenant Colonel Mollohan joined the Asia-Pacific Center for
Security Studies in June 2006.  He has served in the Alumni and
Outreach branch, the Admissions Division as the Registrar and
currently as a military faculty.  He previously served as a Plans
Officer at Marine Corps Forces Pacific, Camp Smith from 2004-2006.
LtCol Mollohan originally enlisted in April 1986 and was commissioned
a Second Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps in May 1993.  He served as
a Logistics; Operations; and Executive Officer, Headquarters
Battalion, Marine Aircraft Group-12 and Marine Corps Air Station,
Iwakuni Japan from 1994-2000.  He now serves as a Southeast Asia
Marine Foreign Area Officer where he spent two years as the Marine
Operations Officer, Joint US Military Advisory Group, Bangkok Thailand
from 2002-2004.  LtCol Mollohan recently returned from United Nations
Peacekeeping Mission in the Republic of Georgia where he served as a
Military Observer and the Operations Officer for UNOMIG from November
2008 to July 2009.
LtCol Mollohan holds a Master of Arts degree in National Security
Affairs with a focus on Thailand and ASEAN from the Naval Postgraduate
School, Monterey California; a Master of Science degree in Business
Management from Troy State University, Troy Alabama; and a Bachelor of
Science degree in Political Science with a focus in Strategic Arms
Control the Former Soviet Union and Russian Language from the U.S.
Naval Academy at Annapolis Maryland.  His academic interests are
collective security and combating terrorism in the Southeast Asia
region; and democracy and development in the region of the Former
Soviet Union.
LtCol Mollohan’s military education and training includes:  Marine
Officer Basic Course, Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School, Marine
Corps Command and General Staff College, The Joint and Combined
Warfighting School (JCWS) Joint Staff College and the US Defense
Language Institute Monterey California (Thai Language Course.)
LtCol Mollohan’s military awards and decorations include:  Defense

Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps

LtCol Mollohan is married to the former Camille Ashe Mowry and they
have two children Michael Jr. and Savannah McCrae Mollohan.
