Lieutenant Colonel Glen Roberts, USAF

U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Glen F. Roberts is the Senior
Strategic Communication Advisor to the Under Secretary of State for
Public Diplomacy.  In this capacity, he develops, executes and
evaluates strategic messaging efforts focused on combating violent
extremism around the world.  He also serves as the Principal Liaison
Officer between the Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and
six Geographic Combatant Commands.  Additionally, he is responsible
for advising the Under Secretary in understanding, informing,
engaging, and influencing key foreign audiences. Finally, he manages,
develops and directs programs that assist in connecting social
movements and grass-roots networks that provide a full range of
constructive alternatives to engaging in violent extremism.
A native of Springfield, Massachusetts, and a graduate of the Air
Force ROTC program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Lt.
Col. Roberts has been a career public affairs officer, and has served
at the Wing, MAJCOM, Air Staff and Joint levels.  Additionally, he is
a veteran of five deployments, including  Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
(1995-96); Operation JOINT FORGE in Sarajevo, Bosnia, (1997-98);
Operation ALLIED FORCE (1999); Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, Baghdad, Iraq
(2004-05); and Operation UNIFIED RESPONSE, Haiti (2010).
