Lieutenant Colonel Glen Roberts, USAFU.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Glen F. Roberts is the SeniorStrategic Communication Advisor to the Under Secretary of State forPublic Diplomacy. In this capacity, he develops, executes andevaluates strategic messaging efforts focused on combating violentextremism around the world. He also serves as the Principal LiaisonOfficer between the Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy andsix Geographic Combatant Commands. Additionally, he is responsiblefor advising the Under Secretary in understanding, informing,engaging, and influencing key foreign audiences. Finally, he manages,develops and directs programs that assist in connecting socialmovements and grass-roots networks that provide a full range ofconstructive alternatives to engaging in violent extremism.
A native of Springfield, Massachusetts, and a graduate of the AirForce ROTC program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Lt.Col. Roberts has been a career public affairs officer, and has servedat the Wing, MAJCOM, Air Staff and Joint levels. Additionally, he isa veteran of five deployments, including Riyadh, Saudi Arabia(1995-96); Operation JOINT FORGE in Sarajevo, Bosnia, (1997-98);Operation ALLIED FORCE (1999); Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, Baghdad, Iraq(2004-05); and Operation UNIFIED RESPONSE, Haiti (2010).
