Colonel Philippe Rogers, USMC

Colonel Philippe Rogers, USMCCol Rogers graduated from the University of Virginia in 1986 withdegrees in history and French and was commissioned immediatelyafterwards.  He completed TBS in July 1987 and earned his Naval FlightOfficer wings in December 1988.

From 1989-1990, then 1st Lt Rogers completed A6-E “Intruder”Bombardier/Navigator training in Whidbey Island, WA.  From July1990-January 1993, he served with VMA (AW)-224, MCAS Cherry Point, andcompleted deployments to Operation Desert Shield/Storm and Westpacwhile serving in various safety and personnel billets.
From February 1993 to July 1994, then Captain Rogers served as the 1stBDE Platoon Commander, 2d ANGLICO, leading his hard-charging Marines on deployments to Puerto Rico, England, and JRTC in support of the75th Ranger Regiment and the 82d Airborne.
From 1994-1995, he attended the Command and Control Systems School,Quantico, graduating as the Distinguished Honor Graduate.
From 1995-1996, Captain Rogers completed F/A-18D “Hornet” transitiontraining at MCAS El Toro, CA.  From July 1996 to July 1999, he servedwith VMFA (AW)-533, MCAS Beaufort, completing deployments in supportof Operation Decisive Endeavor (Bosnia) and Operation Allied Force(Kosovo) and another Westpac deployment while serving in operations,personnel, and maintenance billets.  From 1999-2000, then Major Rogersserved as the Future Operations Officer for MAG-31.
From July to January 2000, he served as a UN Military Observer andTeam Site Commander in MINURSO, the UN mission to the Western Sahara.
From January 2001 to June 2002, he attended the French War College inParis, France, graduating with honors as the best foreign studentwriter.
From July 2002 to June 2004, then Lt Col Rogers served at the U.S.European Command Plans and Policy Directorate, European Division, asthe Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus Desk Officer during OIF I, andsubsequently as the French, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg & AfricaClearing House Desk Officer.
From July 2004 to July 2005, then Lt Col Rogers commanded H&HSSquadron, MAG-11, where he led 200 super-motivated Devil Dogs andSailors.  In July 2005, he was reassigned as the Acting AC/S G-3, 3DMAW, and then became the AC/S G-3 FWD actual, deploying to Al Asad,Iraq, in support of OIF III, 05-07, from January to July 2006.
From July 2006 to June 2007, then Lt Col Rogers attended the Naval WarCollege, graduating as the Distinguished Honor Graduate.
He reported to U.S. Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC)as the first ever Command Inspector General on 1 August 2007.  He waspromoted to Colonel in January 2008.  MARSOC passed its first everInspector General of the Marine Corps inspection in April 2008 with anoverall grade of Mission Capable and all 55 MARSOC programs passedwith flying colors.
He took command of Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine CorpsBase, Camp Pendleton, CA, on 18 July 2008.  He is leading hismagnificent 1,700 Marines with as much passion and fun as can bepossibly had.  He will give up command in July 2010 and untold andbold new adventures await him and his family!
He is married to the former Brandi S. Barham (a former USAF major) andhas two children, Paris (7) and Blake (3).  He has four Master’sDegrees and speaks French and Spanish.
