Captain Todd Squire, USN

CAPT Squire is a student at the Defense Language
Institute in preparation for his assignment as the Security
Cooperation Programs Division Chief in the Office of Defense
Cooperation in Ankara, Turkey.
PAST EXPERIENCE:  In his previous assignment, CAPT Squire served as
the Deputy Director for NATO Operations, and Country Director in
European and NATO Policy, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
As Deputy Director for NATO Operations, he led a team of five Action
Officers that advise the Secretary of Defense on policy matters
significant for NATO Operations.  As a Country Director, he was
initially assigned the portfolio of Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia and
Black Sea Security initiatives.  He then moved on to the United
Kingdom and Ireland.  Previously, he served as a. Political Military
Affairs Officer at U.S. European Command (EUCOM) in Europe Division,
Plans and Policy Directorate.  CAPT Squire’s responsibilities included
serving as Europe Deputy Division Chief, Western Europe Branch Chief
and Country Desk Officer.  As Deputy Division Chief, CAPT Squire
directed the daily efforts of 34 Joint Foreign Area Officers that
wrote and implemented Security Cooperation Plans for 46 European
countries and NATO.  His Desk Officer portfolio consisted of the
United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland and Austria.  Prior to
EUCOM, CAPT Squire attended the German Armed Forces Staff College,
where he earned a Masters degree in Foreign Affairs.
In the Fleet, CAPT Squire flew the EA-6B Prowler, and completed six
worldwide deployments on three sea tours.  His operational experience
included Operation ALLIED FORCE (Kosovo), DENY FLIGHT (Balkans) and
SOUTHERN WATCH (Iraq).  While in Japan, CAPT Squire served as Senior
Landing Signal Officer in Carrier Air Wing Five.  He was dual carrier
qualified in both the EA-6B Prowler and the F/A-18 Hornet.  He was
also selected as the 1998 Naval Air Forces Pacific, Landing Signal
Officer of the Year.
Captain Squire has logged over 3000 flight hours and 670 carrier
arrested landings.  His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service
Medal (two awards), Individual Action Air Medal (two awards, one with
combat distinguishing device), Strike Flight Air Medal (six awards),
Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and
Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various unit,
campaign, and service decorations.  He is married to the former Miss
Anne Marie Brown, (19 years) and they have a seven year old daughter,
Elizabeth Marie.
